This is a keyhole cover from a MILNERS’ SAFE COMPANY safe that I found about 20 years ago at an antique center in England. About Milners... Founder: Thomas Milner Originally a tinsmith from Sheffield. Around 1830, he established a factory in Liverpool and began producing fire-resistant safes and chests. The company name MILNERS ‘ SAFE Co.,Ltd appears to have been used between 1857 and 1975. In the late 19th century, the company grew to become the world's largest manufacturer in the security industry, and in 1911, five of their safes were reportedly on the Titanic. As it is a keyhole cover for a safe, the key shape is completely different from those found on doors, etc. How about it as an interior accessory? I think it's a fun piece just to look at.
