I've tested it on paper. It's the type of ballpoint pen where you twist the body to extend the tip, but it's spinning without the tip coming out on its own. The tip comes out if I open the cap and twist it. Otherwise, there are no noticeable scratches. The case has some minor scratches, as shown in the photos.
