This is a brooch of a woodpecker, the Japanese great spotted woodpecker (photo 1). It's made by carving wood and coloring it with acrylic paints. The acrylic paint is water-resistant, so it's okay if it gets a little wet. The size is almost life-size. How about it, members of the Wild Bird Society of Japan?
