It can be used without any problems, but as the photos show, there is some dirt and fuzzing. If you don't mind, please check the photos and purchase accordingly. I haven't used any air fresheners or fabric softeners, so I don't think there will be any noticeable odors. Depending on your child's size, it should be usable up to around the age of a senior kindergartener if they are small.
