This is a Hakone Yosegi-zaiku tray I bought as a souvenir. It has been stored for a long time, tucked away in the back of a display cabinet. I believe it has never been used. Upon inspection for this listing, I found some subtle stains (possibly mold?) in the corners while it was still in the plastic bag. I cleaned it with an alcohol wipe, then wiped it dry, and put it back in the bag. Since it is old and may have been used, and the lid of the box is deformed (the top is concave and the sides are slightly open), I have rated the condition as "no noticeable scratches or stains." Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for a perfect item or are particularly concerned about condition.
