Raised in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture. In 1974, graduated from the Vocal Music Department of Tokyo University of the Arts and completed the Master's program. In 1975, debuted in the Nikikai Opera "Otello"[2]. Afterwards, studied at the Berlin University of the Arts[2]. Was hired as a permanent singer at the Ulm Theatre[2]. On December 31, 1990, appeared as a member of the Red Team in the 41st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen[3]. Before that, she was considered a strong candidate for the 38th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in 1987, but was not selected because she was staying in Germany until the end of the year[4].
