Higashi-Omi Town, Fukui Prefecture Akechi Shrine The former residence of Akechi Mitsuhide before he served Nobunaga, when he was taking refuge with the Asakura clan. It is said to be the birthplace of Tama, later Hosokawa Gracia. When Nobunaga ordered the suppression of the Ikkō-ikki, Mitsuhide's letter of assurance to Shibata Katsuie and others protected the village, and from that time until the present day, the people of Higashi-Omi have revered Mitsuhide and continued to protect this shrine.
