A youth drama depicting the daily lives of the legendary Tokiwa-so apartment, which actually existed in Toshima-ku, Tokyo, where leading Japanese manga artists including Osamu Tezuka spent their younger days, capturing the nostalgic atmosphere of the 1950s. Editors visited "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka, who lived in the wooden apartment Tokiwa-so in Toshima-ku, day and night. Hiroo Terada, a manga artist living in the opposite room, continued to submit his work to publishers while watching the scene. Soon after Tezuka left Tokiwa-so, the young manga artists, including Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko of "Fujiko Fujio," Shotaro Ishinomori, and Fujio Akatsuka, moved in one after another. Centered around Terada, they formed the "New Manga Party," and despite their poor living conditions, they encouraged each other and spent their days passionately discussing the future of manga... Directed by Jun Ichikawa of "Tokyo Brothers," it was made and released in 1996, based on a true story and presented as fiction. Masahiro Motoki played Hiroo Terada, who was like an older brother to the residents, and Sadao Abe, Shinta Furuta, and Katsuhisa Namase played the young manga artists around him.
