It is covered with 24K gold plating and is a heavy and substantial ink pad case. Engraved 24KGP. The ink pad uses kneaded vermilion ink and can still be used daily as a stamp ink pad. The chrysanthemum crest on the back of the top lid confirms that it is from the Japanese National Railways era. Used, in excellent condition, no scratches.
