By laying the baby on the cushion, they can sleep in a rounded position, which helped them sleep soundly through the night without waking. I used a waterproof sheet and a bath towel on top of the cushion, but for some reason, there are some stains as shown in the third photo. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about the stains or are particularly sensitive. There is some slight flattening of the cushion due to use, but it should be usable without any problems if you adjust the cotton inside. I have put it through a futon dryer before listing.
