This film is based on the novel of the same name by Kenichi Yamamoto, which won the 140th Naoki Prize, and depicts the life of Sen no Rikyu, a tea master, starring Kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa. Rikyu, who was renowned as the "best tea master in the world" under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was eventually alienated by Hideyoshi and forced to commit seppuku despite not being a samurai. The film unravels this mystery, along with a secret love affair with a certain woman. In his youth, Rikyu frequented the red-light district and met a woman who had been abducted from Korea. Rikyu was captivated by her noble demeanor and beauty, but the time of parting soon approached. Rikyu's passion for this unrequited love triggers a certain incident. Miki Nakatani plays Rikyu's wife, So-on, Yusuke Iseya plays Nobunaga, and Nao Omori plays Hideyoshi. The film is directed by Mitsutoshi Tanaka, who also directed "Kewaishi" and "Fire Castle."
