"Tatoushi," special storage paper for kimonos. What is "Tatoushi"? Tatoushi is special wrapping paper for storing kimonos. The name varies depending on the region. From names like "tatoushi" and "tatougami" to "bunko paper," "bunkoshi," or "bunkogami"... there are still many other names. (In some places, the name "tatoushi" may also refer to kaishi paper or clothing mats.) The main roles of tatoushi are ① mold prevention, ② dust and dirt prevention, and ③ wrinkle prevention. ① Mold Prevention As the name suggests, tatoushi is made of paper, so it can be expected to absorb moisture.
