Ogai is said to have composed a tanka (short poem) on this butterfly postcard, and it is speculated that he wished he could become a butterfly and fly to his children immediately. It is a very heartwarming tanka: "To which of the two houses where my two children live, Shall I go? I am lost in a dream."
