This is a Sanpo (a type of stand) used for offerings at a Shinto altar. Size 7 Approximately 21cm square It can be used for New Year's rice cakes (kagami mochi) and seasonal festivals. Also, if you replace the offerings daily with the Sanpo, you won't soil the altar shelf, and it will be easier to put the offerings up and take them down.
