This is a soldier nutcracker purchased during a visit to Hohenhameln, Germany. It has been displayed indoors for many years. The mouth opens and closes when the lever on the back is moved up and down. It was used to crack a walnut once, and as a result, the area where the walnut is placed has some scratches.
