This is a shikishi-gama (square-shaped tea kettle) made by the Living National Treasure, Ikkaku Kakutani. It is Enshu-gonomi (preferred by Kobori Enshu) and features a shikishi (decorative paper) with poems by Saigyo Hoshi: "The water trickles, the moss on the rocks, I drink it all, my dwelling is here," and Jakuren's poem from the Autumn Three Evenings: "The loneliness, it has no color, the autumn evening on Mount Maki." The painting on the original shikishi is said to be by Kano Tanyu. This is a rare shikishi-gama, so please consider it.
