Seisei Suzuki, Artist With Box ◎Seisei Suzuki (1914-1990) Born in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture 1938: Studied under Kaisen Kato, a ceramic artist in Seto, and began full-scale pottery activities. 1940: First selection for the Bunten Exhibition, and selected for 7 consecutive years thereafter. 1954: Received the Special Selection Award at the Nitten Exhibition. From 1972: Nitten Councilor, served as a judge for the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, the Contemporary Japanese Art and Craft Exhibition, etc. It seems he aimed for contemporary crafts without being bound by traditional techniques, and can be said to have been at the forefront of contemporary crafts.
