This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. The era is estimated to be from the Meiji to Taisho periods. It is believed to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. Touching it, one feels the gentle texture of hand-spun yarn, and it has a well-worn feel. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the reverse side retains its vibrant color, and the clear indigo makes for a refreshing piece.
