Six one-gou (180ml) sake masu (wooden measuring cups). One with "Kotobuki (Longevity)" (front) and "Nada no Sake" (back), one with "Kikusui" (front), two with "Hidemori" (front and back), and two with "Shochikubai" (front). These have been in my possession for over 20 years. I obtained them at sake tasting events, etc. They have been used once. There is aging (the wood has a caramel color) and some scratches and stains. The stain on the inside of the "Kotobuki" masu is particularly noticeable. I washed it with soap, but it didn't come off (photo 3: inner wall). One of the "Shochikubai" masu has a "yu" character (intentionally made?) scratch. Washed and dried. Size (with approximately 1mm error): ・Maximum Outer dimensions: Width/Depth 83mm x Height 56mm Inner dimensions: Width/Depth 62mm x Depth 47mm ・Minimum Outer dimensions: Width/Depth 81mm x Height 47mm Inner dimensions: Width/Depth 61mm x Depth 37mm The material is likely hinoki cypress, as it smells like hinoki when wet. These are auspicious items, as the saying goes, "Even if the tokkuri (sake bottle) falls, the sake masu (will avoid the misfortune)." The six masu are said to bring "increasing smiles" ("masu masu nikoniko"). Also, the way the masu are assembled can be read as "iri-bito" or "hito-iri" (entering people), which is considered a symbol of prosperous business. They will be delivered in a reuse box.
