This is a pressed-pattern, copper-red tea bowl by Torakichi Ogawara of the Kurashiki folk kiln, Hajima-yaki. Hajima-yaki Hajima-yaki is a folk craft pottery started in 1946 by Torakichi Ogawara in Hajima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. It is characterized by simple, warm tableware rooted in daily life. However, it closed at the end of 2022, ending its 76-year history. Torakichi, praised by Shoji Hamada as Japan's best potter, passed down his wheel-throwing techniques to his family, but due to the lack of a successor, the kiln was regrettably closed. ※ The glaze is applied thickly, so the potter's mark is buried. Photo 11 is included for reference, comparing it to the potter's mark on another Hajima-yaki piece I own. Condition There is a chipped area, but glaze has been applied over it, indicating it was present during production. Personally, I think that adds to the charm of the tea bowl.
