This is a genuine leather mini bag, a pochette. I bought it a long time ago as a souvenir in Spain, but it has been kept unused since then. At the time, I thought of it as a passport holder, and it's thin without a gusset and has a shoulder strap so it could be worn under a coat (for theft prevention). A regular smartphone fits snugly in the main body, but there's no extra room.
