■□■This year's New Year's decorations contain real beans (rare black thousand stone soybeans harvested in the autumn) inside, instead of bean husks!■□■ This is a Setsubun swag to ward off evil spirits, to be displayed in the entrance after removing the New Year's decorations, around the Little New Year (January 15th). Red is considered a color to ward off evil, so this is a farmer's unique decoration, lavishly using rice ears, based on red rice and golden rice ears harvested at home last autumn. Since ancient times, it has been believed that demons (frightening events beyond human imagination) come during Setsubun, the changing of the seasons, and there is a custom of decorating with holly with sardine heads pierced on them to ward off evil spirits. The idea is to keep evil spirits away by displaying thorny things at the entrance. This is a simple swag without excessive decoration, bound with the wish that everyone will have a good year. The two types of rice ears, chili peppers, and soybeans are all completely domestically produced (from Yamaguchi Prefecture) materials grown at home. The soybeans are small, rare black thousand stone soybeans with small pods, and they are used as they are without removing the beans inside, so they make a rattling sound when you shake them! After displaying it, if you gently open it, you will see small black beans.
