I made a camisole dress by deconstructing an antique kimono. There were signs of wear, but it was a beautiful kimono without any noticeable stains or damage. (Photos 15, 16) Since the kimono was light-colored, I washed it quickly by hand with a detergent specifically for delicate clothes, just in case. It's woven in a cream color with dark beige dots. Yellow and green accent colors create a refreshing geometric pattern. It was a single-layered kimono, so I thought it was for summer, but white-based clothing is also lovely this time of year. The textured weave has a rough feel, but the fabric itself is very supple. To prevent the overall shape from appearing bulky, I put a thin elastic in the back yoke to make it look neat. The length from the top of the bust is about 89cm, so I've added a slit to allow for easy movement. (Photo 2) Silk kimonos are very precious. It's difficult to deconstruct a kimono, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of Japanese fabric in everyday life. It's also a good point that you can enjoy the unique colors and combinations of Japan. I enjoy sewing as a hobby, specializing in straight stitching. I remake old kimonos and furoshiki (wrapping cloths) such as tsumugi, meisen, and komon. Since it's handmade by an amateur, there may be thread holes, remaining threads, small scratches, and creases that don't come out even with ironing.
