He left behind works using various techniques such as tsumugi weaving, bingata, yuzen, and sarasa, and influenced many dyeing and weaving artists of later generations. Because he was an artist who did not disclose his own career, the details of his career are unknown. He became famous for supervising the kimonos in Yasujiro Ozu's films. Especially well-known for his vertical-ribbed tsumugi, the rustic and roughly woven plain weave using hand-spun slub yarn is still very popular today for both kimonos and obi.
