This is a "Kachofugetsu" (Flowers, Birds, Wind, and Moon) Chintz Chief from the Mokuzan Sakaki Collection. The chintz fabric, with its unique uneven texture, is dyed in a navy and off-white checkered pattern, and features a print of Mokuzan's "Kachofugetsu" calligraphy. The chintz chief is a small furoshiki (wrapping cloth) made from chintz fabric, which originated in the Shandong (Shantung) region of China. It is made with a distinctive textured fabric, is durable, absorbent, and can be used to wrap heavy items. It can be used for various purposes such as wrapping lunch boxes, as a fukusa (a cloth used in tea ceremonies), or as a handkerchief. There are some fold marks, but they should disappear after washing. Although it is unused, the box has some dents. Also, there are some areas with rough thread ends on the back (see photo 7).
