This kana brush is an elegant kana brush supervised by the late Professor Kichinan Tanibe, a former professor at Nara University of Education and a renowned Nitten artist who was active in Kyoto in the 1960s (Showa 40s), and made by Hakubundo, a leading brush maker in Nara. The seal was written by the professor. I believe it is no longer being produced. The tip is made of high-quality deer hair and weasel hair. It is ideal for copying the Manyoshu and ancient kana writings. The shaft is 20cm long, and the tip is 2.2cm. I was asked by a friend to get this brush, and I happened to purchase it from a shop in Kyoto on Mercari. It is said to be a brush for copying the Izumi Shikibu Collection. However, my friend has passed away, so it is no longer needed.
