This is a highly rare Danish original pressing of The Beatles' landmark debut album, "Please Please Me," a first pressing and the pinnacle of the gold Parlophone label that any collector would desire. The matrix is 1N, the same as the UK original, and the sound is superb, not inferior to the label. The number of copies is overwhelmingly small, so I believe it's truly a first pressing level with a single-digit stamper. In fact, this Danish pressing doesn't have a stamper. XEX 421-1N 1 XEX 422-1N 4 There are three countries with gold labels, but the Danish pressing is the most difficult to obtain. It's overwhelmingly rarer than the UK or Australian pressings, so it might even be worth more. Regarding the album itself, it's too historical for me to comment on. The jacket condition is fair. There is writing and damage on the back, but the spine is tight and the title is readable, and the front is relatively good. The Danish labels often have faded gold coloring, but this one is relatively well-preserved. The disc has minimal hairline scratches and scuffs on both sides, but they don't significantly affect playback and are in good condition. In my setup (AT VMN10CB), when listening close to the speakers, there are some spots where background noise and crackle can be heard on relatively quiet songs, but it doesn't surpass the original sound source. When listening in a normal position, you probably won't hear it at all. With the recent popularity of records, the rarity is increasing, and originals are becoming less available. Furthermore, people who have completed their UK collections are increasingly moving on to pressings from other countries, and this one will continue to rise in price, making the gold label highly competitive. This record obviously has no fatal playback issues, but the way the sound is perceived, and the actual playback condition, varies depending on the shape and wear of the stylus, the characteristics of the cartridge, the arm setup, the tracking force, and the overall combination of playback equipment. As you can see from my review, my impressions seem to be almost identical to those of the buyers, but please purchase only if you understand the characteristics of used records.
