We have selected the "birthplace" for each century. * 100 Years Ago - Birthplace of Municipalization No. 20, "Sakae-machi Area," where the city government was implemented in 1889 when the municipal system was established. * 200 Years Ago - Birthplace of Dodoitsu (a type of Japanese folk song) No. 39, "Miya no Watashi," in 1841, the warehouses in Senba were piled high with merchandise, and in the evening, the sound of singing. * 300 Years Ago - Birthplace of Basho (famous haiku poet) No. 25, "Hisaya Odori Park and TV Tower," Basho established a new style of haikai (linked verse). The "Winter Day" renga (linked verse) gathering was held at the home of Kyubei, the "birthplace of Basho." This was in the early winter of Genroku 1 (1688). * 400 Years Ago - Birthplace of the Ruler of the Realm No. 17, "Toyokuni Shrine," the enshrined deity is Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi was born in "Owari Nakamura" in 1536. After the death of Oda Nobunaga, he consolidated his position and achieved unification of the country in 1590. This is a nostalgic collection of local paintings by 100 painters from the Meiji to Showa eras.
