Foreign Stamps, Dog Stamps, Two Stamps Commemorating Dogs That Contributed to Space Exploration These two stamps were issued to commemorate the dogs that went to space as part of the Soviet Union's space program. The stamp on the left was issued in Hungary in 1982 and depicts "Laika," the dog that went to space aboard Sputnik 2. The stamp on the right was issued in the Soviet Union and depicts "Zvezdochka," the dog that went to space aboard Sputnik 5 on March 25, 1961.
