Haisei Karuta This karuta selects famous and accessible verses from the many poems of Basho, Kyorai, Buson, and Issa. In addition to "karuta-tori" (card-grabbing), consider various ways to play, such as guessing the author, guessing the season, or guessing the second half of the verse. Also, please use it for calligraphy and haiga (haiku painting) practice. Even if there are difficult verses... as you recite and pick them up many times, the 5-7-5 rhythm of haiku will naturally sink into your heart and become enjoyable to understand.
