This is a work by Masao Aida, a member of the Japan Kogei Association and a holder of the Gunma Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property designation, who specializes in Edo Komon dyeing. Masao Aida has, over many years, mastered the traditional techniques of Edo Komon. He is a leading figure in Edo Komon, capable of performing highly skilled dyeing and weaving, including the restoration of techniques such as the "Itabiki Moku" pattern, which resembles wood grain, and the "Miyama-zome" (mountain-dyeing) gradation technique. In 1983, he became a full member of the Japan Kogei Association, and his achievements have been highly praised, including receiving numerous awards such as the Agency for Cultural Affairs Commissioner's Award at the Japan Traditional Kogei Dyeing Exhibition in 1986. By incorporating new techniques into traditional ones, he was recognized as a holder of the Gunma Prefecture Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1999, as someone who can highly embody the techniques of Edo Komon. This piece features a pattern of "Mansuji" (thousands of lines) with horizontal lines, resembling bamboo. The design is accented with plum and bamboo leaf motifs. The artist's signature is placed on the lower left lapel. We believe this piece has high value as a work of art, so we hope you will enjoy it with your obi or Nagoya obi. ● Japanese Color: A deep blue-green color, similar to Momoshiocha (peach salt tea) ● Size: Wide collar, lined No family crest Length: 163cm Sleeve to sleeve: 66cm Sleeve length: 49cm Front width: 25.5cm Back width: 30cm Seam allowance for sleeve to sleeve: approx. 3cm Hem allowance: approx. 9cm *Please note that there may be slight variations due to the measurements being taken by an amateur. ● Material: Both the kimono, lining, and hakkei (lining of the kimono skirt) are silk. ● Condition: Lightly worn, but in beautiful condition.
