When presenting a noshi-bukuro (ceremonial envelope) or a precious item to someone, it's elegant to lightly wrap it in this fukusa and present it to them, unfolding the fukusa in front of them. The material is unused remnants from tailoring. The off-white base has a fine dotted weave pattern. The bold peonies are cut-and-sewn in a gradation of light reddish-purple, and the chrysanthemums, maples, and plums are stencil-dyed in a gradation of pastel colors, creating a beautiful balance of colors. It's a smooth, flowing fabric with an elegant feel. This is made without interfacing for a supple and soft finish, specifically for fukusa sabaki.
