Purchased from a select shop in Northern Europe. This is a basket woven using Näverslöjd (birch bark weaving), a traditional craft that has been cherished in Sweden for a long time. It is made by carefully processing birch bark harvested by hand from standing trees. The edge of the basket is woven with birch roots (root binding). It is very tightly woven. 〈Dimensions〉 Approximately 23cm square, depth approximately 7.5cm I think it's a very versatile size, suitable for use as a candy dish or bread basket, or for storing small items or craft supplies.
