This is a ChreeHeart dress, a specialty of Kurume, known for its Kurume Kasuri. Made in Japan. Kurume Kasuri is one of the three major types of Kasuri in Japan. The Kurume Kasuri technique was designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan in 1957. This item is made of soft, 100% cotton Kurume-ori fabric, from Kuwano, a brand comparable to Giemon. Founded in 1900 (Meiji 33), Kuwano started with the production of Kurume Kasuri, and with the installation of a wide-width weaving machine in 1930 (Showa 5), they transitioned to producing Kurume-ori, weaving pre-dyed yarns in a wide width. Continuing to weave for 120 years while inheriting tradition, they now manufacture and sell everything from fabric to sewing, including "monpe" (work pants), "wadded half-coats," and "samue" (work clothes) at their own factory.
