Originally, Kagura was danced by ancient people to pray for good health and rejuvenation of the soul, and it is said that this ritual of soul-soothing and purification is the origin of various Shinto performing arts. The head is made by molding clay, carefully layering Japanese paper, applying a coating of gofun (oyster shell powder), and then coloring it. The body is constructed with a bamboo frame and covered with Japanese paper. It is fixed with wire inside, allowing you to freely change its shape. *Persimmon tannin is used as an insect repellent.
