This is a Fukure-ori (puckered weave) Nagoya obi with dramatic reddish-brown roses emerging from a black background. The Fukure-ori (Fukura-ori) technique, which creates texture on the fabric, allows the rose petals to be expressed in three dimensions. Silver and lame threads are used, creating a luxurious finish that emits a delicate sparkle depending on the angle of the light. There is some rubbing on the obi-makura (body wrapping) part, which gives the fabric a generally lame-like texture (please check images). There are several scratches and stains within the pattern, but they are difficult to notice when worn, blending into the complex texture and gorgeous pattern of the Fukure-ori.
