I made a long skirt by unraveling a Meisen kimono. I was planning to make the Meisen skirt when it got warmer, but since there were people interested, I decided to list it. There are areas where the fabric has been sewn together to adjust the length (see photos 16 and 17, center). Please check these. Therefore, I've priced the skirt lower than skirt 175. The original kimono was in very beautiful condition, with the basting threads still attached (photos 11-14). Meisen can fade when washed, so after unraveling, I only sterilized it with a high-temperature iron. The color is a deep purple, almost black, with a pinkish-beige pattern. The kimono's unusual color combination has resulted in a mysterious and unique skirt. The fabric is supple with a moderate sheen and the characteristic firmness of Meisen. This time, I paired it with a black long skirt. I've added long tucks, three in the front and three in the back, to reduce the volume. Although there's plenty of gathering, the tucks make the waist and hips look neat. Silk fabric is expensive, so I don't think I'll be able to buy fabric and make it myself. Unraveling old clothes is difficult, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of silk in everyday life. It's also great to be able to enjoy the unique colors and combinations that are characteristic of Japan. I enjoy sewing, specializing in straight stitching. I use old kimonos, such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon, as well as obi and furoshiki, for remaking. Please consider this if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, and double stitching. ✳︎Please avoid washing as much as possible. After wearing, hang it on a hanger and let it air out. ✳︎Everything except the skirt is for photography purposes. ✳︎There is no lining. Please use a petticoat when wearing.
