This is the lid of a yellow, lacquered, round jubako (or sushi oke) with a bamboo design. It's a Showa-retro modern antique. It can be used as a container for osechi (New Year's dishes) or temaki sushi (hand-rolled sushi). A beautiful wooden sushi oke with a bamboo pattern, the inside is red.
