Genuine silk Nagoya obi from Kawashima Textile, with a slight issue This is a gorgeous woven Nagoya obi from Kawashima Textile. While a fukuro obi (formal obi) is more formal, this is a Nagoya-style obi, so it can be worn for slightly dressy occasions. For some reason, when tied normally, the pattern on the otaiko (back) part will be upside down. Therefore, when making the otaiko, you need to reverse the front and back sides to get the pattern facing the correct direction. The otaiko section is 106cm long, so it is possible to flip it over.
