This is an unsewn fukuro obi (formal obi). It was given to me by a relative. It can be worn with black tomesode (formal black kimono), iro tomesode (colored formal kimono), homongi (visiting kimono), and iromuji (colored unpatterned kimono). It is new, but has been stored at home, so please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for the level of newness found at a kimono shop. The name "Teihisa Saku" is woven in, so it may be a work by an artist. I wear kimono, but I am not familiar with the origins or artists, so please judge from the images. It seems that a fukuro obi of about 460-470cm can be made. The obi width is about 31cm. I will send it in the paulownia wood box it came in (image 7). The design is auspicious, representing success in life, based on the story of "a carp climbing a treacherous waterfall and becoming a dragon."
