The illustrations in this book are based on sculptures, paintings, sketches, art anatomy books, and old photographs that depict the human body. The figures and photographs used as references were created around 1900, and many are modern sculptures. Works from the Renaissance and ancient Greece, which were popular at the time, are also occasionally included. I considered using actual photographs of the human body as reference, but decided against it this time. If you want to confirm with an actual human body, you can observe yourself in a mirror or have someone else pose for you. I thought there would be value in opening this book to learn about "examples seen through the eyes of artists who were active on the front lines." Poses in art often create a sense of dynamism by emphasizing things like "twisting a little more than the actual range of motion" or "behaving in a grand manner." The reference materials used for the illustrations include clothed figures and figures with supports (supporting pillars for sculptures) that hide parts of the body, and in those areas, I have inferred and added to the body's outline. These hidden parts became easy to infer as I drew more and more.
