This is a set of two hand-painted casseroles designed by Masatoshi Saeki, a ceramic artist selected as one of "10 Designers of the World" by the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy, who passed away in 2019. These casseroles are from the 1970s and are no longer in production. They are vintage items from 50 years ago. ※ A casserole is a French term for "pot," referring to a thick-walled, lidded pot, or the stewed or oven-baked dishes made in such a pot (heat-resistant container). They are made from various materials such as ceramic, enamel, and stainless steel, and are compatible with direct fire, oven, and microwave. Due to being hand-painted, each piece has a different design, giving it a unique character. As shown in the image, there is a stain on the underside of the lid. I believe this was created during the manufacturing process, but please understand that these are vintage items before purchasing. ※ As these are ceramic, there are "kannyu" (crazing). "Kannyu" refers to the fine crack patterns that appear on the surface of the glaze due to the difference in shrinkage rates between the ceramic body and the glaze during the cooling process after firing. This does not affect the strength of the vessel and has been enjoyed as a beautiful pattern since ancient times.
