A "Sometsuke Rai-mon Yunomi" (Blue and White Lightning Pattern Teacup) from Gen'emon Gama, a kiln that represents Arita-yaki. The boldly carved exterior is created by the hands of skilled artisans, one by one. The indentations provide an outstandingly comfortable grip. The inner bottom has a moderate roundness, making it easy for shochu to blend with hot water or water inside the cup. The lightning pattern, also known as "Inazuma-mon," is a symbol of a good harvest and good fortune, and has been cherished as an auspicious pattern since ancient times. This pattern is often used on ramen bowls, and originates from China, but this time, it is expressed only with the shades of blue and white dyeing, which is the specialty of our kiln. The unevenness of the carving fits comfortably in the hand, making it a masterpiece you'll want to cherish forever. I love tableware and collect a lot of it, not just Gen'emon.
