These reeds are made from high-quality 11.5-12mm reeds from Udono, carefully selected and dried in the shade for about a year and a half. They are then smoked over an irori (sunken hearth) for over 10 years, resulting in reeds that are both durable and of exceptional sound quality. I believe these are top-of-the-line reeds. Please refer to my past reviews to understand the quality of my reeds. These reeds are meticulously crafted over time and are generally compatible with any hichiriki, including those with plastic tubes. They are finished so that even beginners and women can play them easily, but please be aware that they will not sound with a light breath. To produce a good sound, you must put a good amount of breath into it. The price of one reed is a bit high, but if you are not satisfied, I will handle returns and exchanges in any way. I am confident that you will be satisfied with these reeds, so please try them once. As a supplement, even if you have a wonderful instrument and materials, you cannot create a good reed beyond your own playing skill and technique! Even if the reed itself is somewhat shaped, the tips and tricks to make it sound can be lacking, and the seams may be loose or tight, which can be a cause of the reed not sounding well. Also, people say to nurture a new reed to make it sound, but in my experience, if the quality of the reed itself is poor or if it is only air-dried, the tone will not be good and it will not last long.
