This is a pair of antique-style sai. These are authentic, non-mass-produced, antique-style sai, and are not welded. I used Shureido's antique-style sai, but those are antique-style imitations and not truly antique-made. I searched for genuine antique-made sai and purchased these about 10 years ago at a martial arts supply store in Toshima-ku. This time, I had a blacksmith make a custom, one-of-a-kind pair of sai for myself. I considered keeping these as part of my collection since I wouldn't be using them as often, but I decided it would be better for someone who practices martial arts to use them, so I'm putting them up for sale. ※ They are about 20g heavier per side than Shureido's M size, so beginners should be careful. Length: 47cm, Handle base to tsuba: 13cm, Prong tip: 13.5cm Weight: 659g, 663g Blade shape: Round Material: Iron (a magnet sticks to it) Condition: Some rust There is some play in the blade and prongs, but they are secured with mekugi (pegs), so they won't come off. If you are concerned, you can hammer the joints of the blade and prongs to tighten them. The prong (tsuba) came off, so I consulted the store, and they reinforced it by driving in mekugi. A dedicated storage bag is also included. Please note that they will not fit in a Shureido sai bag because of the shape. I searched for years, but I couldn't find any other antique-made sai. The store where I bought them no longer makes them. They cost 10 times more than other companies' sai at the time, so the price is also high.
