I've only lent it to a friend a few times for travel, otherwise it's been stored at home. I've hardly used it as a backpack or shoulder bag. Also, there is no peculiar smell associated with use. I will remove dust with adhesive tape before packing, but please understand that some dust may be visible due to the black color.
