Here are two bottom tiles of different thicknesses that I had at home. The main use of bottom tiles is in the tea ceremony, in the furo (portable brazier) and ro (sunken hearth). They are placed under the ash to adjust the height and to prevent heat from directly transferring to the rodan (hearth). They are used to adjust the height of the kama (tea kettle) and to prevent the ash from sinking, and are used by stacking 1-2 tiles.
