"Chatoyu Ichie-shu / Kanya Sawa" Naosuke Ii Price: ¥900 + tax (¥990) 4th printing, May 2016 Ii Naosuke (1815-60), a Great Elder of the late Edo period, was born as the 14th son of the Ii family. He cultivated his skills in both martial arts and the arts from his time as a resident in the "Umegaki-no-ya" residence in Hikone Castle town, and became deeply devoted to the tea ceremony. His state of mind is revealed in "Chatoyu Ichie-shu," which details the host and guest's mindset when facing the tea ceremony of "Ichigo Ichie" (once-in-a-lifetime encounter). Also included is "Kanya Sawa," which Naosuke learned from and excerpted from many tea books. Ii Naosuke (November 29, 1815 - March 24, 1860) (Died at the age of 44) A fudai daimyo of the late Edo period to the end of the Edo period. The 16th lord of the Omi Hikone Domain. He served as a Great Elder in the Edo shogunate during the late Edo period, signed the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between the United States and Japan as a proponent of opening the country, and carried out the opening and modernization of Japan.
