This is a set of wooden chopstick rests made using the marquetry technique, which combines multiple pieces of wood of different colors. Hakone is known as the only production area in Japan for this traditional craft. The designs express patterns by utilizing the colors and wood grain of various types of natural wood, and include five chopstick rests with designs of different flowers such as cherry blossoms and sunflowers, as well as auspicious motifs like owls. They are popular as interior items to brighten up the dining table and as gifts.
