I believe this is a handmade erhu, likely for intermediate players. The maker is Ding Haokang, and it's stamped "Ming and Qing Dynasty Antique Material, Black Zitan, Suzhou, China." It seems to be made with high-quality materials. According to online research, the highest-grade erhus by this maker currently sell for around 300,000 yen. This erhu cost 120,000 yen when purchased in 2004. Looking back at the documentation from that time, there was a catchphrase stating the maker had won first prize in a craftsmanship competition. I will also include a bow made by Wang Xiaodi, which I purchased separately for 10,000 yen. In addition to the case (with a shoulder strap), I will also include 3 sets of strings, a tuning whistle (unused), and rosin. I was drawn to the beautiful, indescribable tone of the erhu and bought it, but I haven't been able to practice much, and it has been sitting unused. I hope someone will give it a good home.
